The pile driver consists of a pile hammer, a pile frame and ancillary equipment.
The pile hammer is connected between two parallel vertical guides (commonly referred to as gantry) at the front of the pile frame and lifted by the lift hooks. Pile hammers can be divided into drop hammers, steam hammers, diesel hammers, hydraulic hammers, and so on.
The pile frame is a steel structure tower with a winch at the rear for lifting the pile and the pile hammer. Two guide rods are arranged at the front of the pile frame to control the piling direction so that the pile can accurately enter the formation according to the design direction. The tower and the guide frame can be deflected together to drive the tilting pile. The guide frame can also extend down the tower to drive the underwater pile along the bank or dock. The pile frame can be rotated and moved.
